Which track and tests apply to your degree?
SKEMA runs its own admissions-by-qualification competition; it is not part of a shared entrance examination system, and the school is not among the three schools in the 2027 ECRICOME Tremplin Bac+3 competition. The competition page says it leads to the Grande École Program, or Master in Management. Two AST tracks are available, depending on your degree. The sessions page limits eligibility to French-recognized degrees or level 5 or 6 RNCP qualifications; ECTS credits or a level equivalency alone are not sufficient. Applicants with foreign degrees are directed to separate international tracks.
Both tracks require a management test and an English test. According to the competition page, FNEGE sends TAGE 2 and TAGE MAGE scores directly to the school. The table follows the FAQ list; it does not cover the school’s other programs (Masters of Science and MBA), which have their own application processes.
| Pathway | Entry | Accepted management test | Accepted English test |
|---|---|---|---|
| AST 1 | French-recognized two-year degree or level 5 RNCP qualification, completed or in the final year; under 25 on September 1 of the year of enrollment | TAGE 2, GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or CAT | TOEIC Listening and Reading or 4SKILLS, TOEFL iBT or ITP, IELTS, iCIMS, Duolingo, or Cambridge |
| AST 2 | French-recognized three- or four-year degree or level 6 RNCP qualification, completed or in the final year; under 26 on September 1 of the year of enrollment | TAGE MAGE, GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or CAT | Same list as AST 1 |
Which management test should you choose?
The FAQ lists accepted tests for each track without naming a “best” option or requiring the FNEGE test. To choose, focus on your other applications and deadlines: this is preparation advice, not a preference stated by SKEMA. If you are also applying to a competition that requires TAGE 2 or TAGE MAGE, taking the FNEGE test for your track can avoid preparing for two exams; the article on TAGE 2 and TAGE MAGE explains why their scores are not comparable.
If you are choosing between the French test and the GMAT or GRE, the “TAGE MAGE or GMAT” and “TAGE MAGE or GRE” articles compare format, language, and test dates. Do not expect a published SKEMA-specific score conversion: the FAQ says conversion scales are not published. To place a GMAT score on the current scale, the GMAT guide’s percentile article explains how to read the official GMAC table.
Which English tests does the school accept?
The FAQ lists TOEIC Listening and Reading, TOEFL iBT or ITP, IELTS, iCIMS, Duolingo, and Cambridge. For TOEIC, it names three formats: the two-hour paper-based or computer-based Listening and Reading test, the one-hour adaptive Listening and Reading test, and TOEIC 4SKILLS. TOEIC Speaking and Writing alone is not accepted. Both public and institutional programs are accepted with an official ETS score report; a report issued only by your institution is not sufficient.
No minimum English score is required: the FAQ says all scores are considered and none is disqualifying. It does not explain how a given score is converted into a grade; the school publishes neither the algorithm nor the conversion scales. The TOEIC guide article on choosing between Listening and Reading and all four skills explains the differences.
What score information does SKEMA publish?
The figures below come from the competition website, with their scope specified. The table distinguishes rules stated explicitly in the FAQ from information not found on the pages reviewed. The last two rows are not test scores; they are statistics from the 2026 competition, and the school does not specify the scale or how the average was calculated. They cannot be converted into TAGE MAGE, GMAT, or TOEIC points.
The 2026 competition therefore lists 736 AST 1 candidates, with the last candidate assigned a place ranked 203, and 4,267 AST 2 candidates, with the last candidate assigned a place ranked 779. The average score of the last candidates assigned a place is 15 in both tracks. These figures describe a past cycle and set no requirements for 2027.
| Information | What the school publishes | Scope and source |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum management test score | No minimum required | AST 1 and AST 2, competition FAQ |
| Minimum English test score | No minimum required | AST 1 and AST 2, competition FAQ |
| Average score or test profile of admitted candidates | Not found on the pages reviewed | FAQ and sessions page, reviewed October 15, 2026 |
| Algorithm and conversion scales | Not published | AST 1 and AST 2, competition FAQ |
| Accepted score dates | English: tests taken since January 1, 2025; TAGE 2 / TAGE MAGE: since January 1, 2026; GMAT, GRE, and CAT: since January 1, 2023 | Competition FAQ, 2027 cycle; test-taking deadlines depend on the session |
| Average score of the last candidates assigned a place | 15 (scale and calculation method not specified), not a test score | AST 1 and AST 2, 2026 competition, sessions page |
| Rank of the last candidates assigned a place / number of candidates | AST 1: 203 of 736; AST 2: 779 of 4,267 | 2026 competition, sessions page |
How much do the tests count, and what are the other steps?
The weighting factors for interview qualification are 4 for the academic record, 6 for management, and 6 for English. No personal statement or recommendation letter is required. The FAQ then describes a 20-minute motivation interview based on a résumé projecting the applicant’s future career, a 20-minute English oral exam preceded by 20 minutes of preparation, and an optional second language. To request remote oral exams, applicants must document an academic or professional experience abroad lasting more than three months, more than 3,000 kilometers from a French campus, and covering the entire oral-exam period. The sessions page asks applicants to complete the application and upload supporting documents before the deadline; the FAQ also asks them to email the admissions office before that date. The second-language exam is not available remotely.
The application also requires the degree or current enrollment certificate, the French baccalaureate diploma or transcript, higher-education transcripts, and both test scores. The application fee is €130, waived for CROUS scholarship recipients who provide their final scholarship certificate; test fees paid to the test provider still apply. The article on AST application documents offers a more complete checklist.
Which dates should you note for the 2027 cycle?
Applications open on November 24, 2026. The deadlines are noon on December 14, 2026 for session 1, February 16, 2027 for session 2, and April 5, 2027 for session 3. For remote oral exams, the FAQ lists January 21–22, March 17–19, and May 19–21, 2027. The sessions page lists only January 21, March 18, and May 19–20, noting that dates may change. These two publications differ; confirm your dates with the admissions office.
The FAQ also sets separate deadlines: submit English scores by noon on December 14, 2026, February 16, 2027, and April 12, 2027; take TAGE 2 or TAGE MAGE by noon on December 5, 2026, February 16, 2027, and April 12, 2027. Test dates therefore do not always match application deadlines. Another FAQ response says FNEGE scores are transmitted automatically at the session deadline; confirm this, especially for session 3. Allow time for the provider to release results; the articles on parallel-admissions timelines and score validity can help you plan backward.
The pitfall
Treating the “15” for the last candidates assigned a place as a test cutoff
The average score of the last candidates assigned a place may look like a cutoff. But the school specifies neither its scale nor how it was calculated, and publishes neither the competition algorithm nor conversion scales. It does not say what TAGE MAGE, GMAT, or TOEIC score applicants need.
The second pitfall is applying one track’s rules to another: AST 1 lists TAGE 2, while AST 2 lists TAGE MAGE, and one score cannot replace the other. An unsourced figure from a forum or test-prep provider does not replace the school’s published information, and no page lets applicants predict admission.
Key takeaways
- The accepted management test depends on the track: TAGE 2 for AST 1, TAGE MAGE for AST 2, and GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or CAT for both.
- No minimum score is required for management or English; the algorithm and conversion scales are not published.
- The sessions page reports 2026 competition results: an average score of 15 for the last candidates assigned a place, on an unspecified scale; this is not a test score.
- Check score validity and the dates for your chosen session in your admissions account before booking a test.
