Cancel or change your TOEIC session:
withdrawal period, refunds, and no-shows

For a TOEIC purchased directly from the ETS Global website in France, cancellation before the appointment is fully refunded during the 14-day withdrawal period, and then refunded at 70%. To change dates, ETS Global requires you to cancel and register again. No-shows are not refunded; vouchers and registrations through an institution follow different terms.

Can you move your session without canceling it?

No. ETS Global’s help page says you must cancel your registration, then register for a new available date. There is no “rescheduling” process that keeps your payment: changing dates means applying the refund rule below and then purchasing a new session (a voucher is reactivated; see below). This help page appears in the section on remotely proctored tests; the terms discussed here govern services purchased on the ETS Global website. If your session is a different type, review the terms for both before acting.

The stated process uses your account: “Upcoming tests,” then “Manage my registration,” the three-dot menu, and “Cancel my registration.” For a cancellation during the withdrawal period, the terms specify that it must be done through your personal account; requests by phone or email are not accepted.

Planning tip, not an ETS Global rule: open the session search and find a new date before canceling the old one. If you cancel first and search later, you may find that no available date works after the refund has already been processed.

How much is refunded, and by when?

The consumer terms, updated June 30, 2026, distinguish three situations. The withdrawal period is fourteen calendar days in mainland France and overseas France, and seven days in another country. It starts from the date and time shown on the order confirmation, not the test date.

Article 7.3 excludes cancellation after the check-in time at a test center, even during the withdrawal period. It also provides an exception when access to purchased online content has been enabled. Do not count on having fourteen days to cancel a session that takes place sooner.

What happens if you do not attend?

A candidate who does not attend the scheduled session is not refunded: Article 7.3 lists this among cases with no refund. The FAQ treats remote tests separately: if a candidate does not connect, they are marked absent and their voucher is automatically reactivated once. Do not apply this exception to a no-show at a test center. If an institution registered you directly, contact it.

The candidate handbook, updated September 24, 2026, adds two rules with the same effect as a no-show. Candidates are not admitted after test materials have been distributed, and refusing an identity check forfeits the seat without a refund of the registration fee. Arriving well before the time on your appointment notice is therefore sensible.

For a technical incident at a test center, the handbook says that if the problem forces the test to be canceled or prevents scoring, the candidate may retake the test for free or receive a full refund of the registration fee. This rule applies to test centers; for an interruption during a remote test, follow ETS Global’s support procedure.

What if the session is paid for with a voucher or by a school?

If you cancel a voucher-paid registration before the appointment time, the help page provides for reactivating the voucher under its original validity terms so you can choose a new date. Reactivation does not extend the voucher’s validity period.

Article 7.3 does not apply to vouchers purchased by an organization on behalf of a candidate, so the table above does not describe your situation; contact the organization that purchased the voucher. If your institution registered you, it sets the dates and frequency of sessions, as the TOEIC guide explains. Contact the institution first.

  • Voucher registration: cancel before the appointment, then choose a new date within the same validity period.
  • Organization voucher: Article 7.3 does not apply; contact the organization.
  • Direct purchase from the ETS Global website: review Article 7.3, including its exceptions.

The pitfall

Relying on a percentage from somewhere other than the current page

An old copy of the ETS Global terms, in a PDF or quoted in a forum or blog, may show figures that differ from the current page. The page reviewed states a 70% partial refund. Keep the terms accepted at purchase with your confirmation; if versions differ, ask ETS Global which terms apply to your order.

Use the same care with the time limit: do not count fourteen days from the test date or assume seven days because a friend is taking the test abroad. Under these terms, the period starts from the order confirmation: fourteen days in mainland France and overseas France, seven days in other countries. This does not describe the rules of every TOEIC distributor worldwide.

What should you do if ETS Global cancels the session?

ETS Global reserves the right to cancel a session without penalty. You will be notified by email. You automatically receive a voucher or a promotional code valid for six months to choose a new date, or you can request a full refund from customer service. An expired voucher is not refundable; if you prefer a cash refund, request the full refund.

The terms also limit ETS Global’s liability for losses related to cancellation, subject to applicable law. Planning tip: choose changeable travel and accommodation bookings when the session is far from home.

Key takeaways

  • There is no rescheduling: changing dates means canceling and registering again for an available date.
  • For a direct purchase from the ETS Global website in France, the refund is full during the 14-day period and then 70%, if you cancel before the appointment and subject to exceptions.
  • After the appointment time, a no-show or invalid document is not eligible for a refund.
  • Keep the terms you accepted at purchase; for a voucher or institution registration, check the terms for that route.
